L’art d’André Derain n’a pas donné lieu à de grandes monographies depuis la rétrospective que le Musée d’Art moderne de la Ville de Paris a consacré à son œuvre en 1994, soit depuis plus de vingt ans.
Ce peintre français a joué un rôle moteur et intellectuel dans l’éclosion des deux grandes avant-gardes du début du 20e siècle, le fauvisme et le cubisme. Il engage en solitaire un retour précoce au réalisme, annonçant tous les mouvements figuratifs de réalisme magique, depuis l’Ingrisme de Picasso, la peinture métaphysique de De Chirico ou la Nouvelle Objectivité allemande. L’œuvre d’avant-guerre de Derain, d’une très grande inventivité et audace, est fascinante.
The art of André Derain has not been the focus of any major monographic exhibitions since the 1994 retrospective at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris – in other words, for over twenty years. This French painter played a crucial intellectual role in the emergence of two major avant-garde movements in the early 20th century: Fauvism and Cubism. Early on, he made a solitary return to realism, foreshadowing all the figurative movements of magic realism from the Ingrism of Picasso to the metaphysical painting of De Chirico and the New Objectivity of Germany. Derain’s daring, highly inventive pre-war work is fascinating.

Pourtant reconnu et admiré à Paris au tournant des XIXe et XXe siècles, Zorn n’a pas été célébré dans la capitale depuis 1906 ! Près de 150 œuvres permettront de retracer le parcours de ce grand artiste, ami et rival de Sargent, Sorolla, Boldini et Besnard, à la fois aquarelliste virtuose, peintre talentueux et graveur de génie.
Cette première rétrospective parisienne devrait marquer le retour en grâce d’un maitre resté très populaire en Scandinavie et célébré avec succès à San Francisco et New York en 2013 et 2014.
Outre le portraitiste mondain et le chantre du folklore et de la nature suédoise, l’exposition mettra en valeur son talent magistral d’aquarelliste, de graveur et celui, inédit, de photographe. Cette présentation bénéficiera des plus belles pièces du musée Zorn à Mora et d’un ensemble exceptionnel d’œuvres du Nationalmuseum de Stockholm, partenaire du projet, complété par d’importants prêts d’autres institutions scandinaves et françaises. L’année 2017 célèbre le centenaire de la naissance d’Irving Penn, l’un des plus grands photographes du XXe siècle. En partenariat avec le Metropolitan Museum of Art de New York, le Grand Palais rend hommage à cet artiste talentueux, célèbre pour ses photographies de personnalités majeures telles que Pablo Picasso, Yves Saint Laurent, Audrey Hepburn, Alfred Hitchcock, etc. Son travail se caractérise par une élégante simplicité et une rigueur remarquable, du studio jusqu’au tirage auquel Penn accorde un soin méticuleux. Resté fidèle à la photographie de studio, il crée, dans chaque portrait, une véritable intimité avec son modèle, qui constitue la signature d’Irving Penn.
2017 marks the centenary of the birth of Irving Penn (1917-2009), one of the greatest photographers of the 20th century. This exhibition, organized by The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and The Réunion des musées nationaux– Grand Palais, in collaboration with The Irving Penn Foundation,is the first major retrospective of the American artist’s work in France since his death. It looks back over his seventy-year career, with more than 235 photographic prints, all produced by the artist himself, as well as a selection of his drawings and paintings. The Irving Penn exhibition offers a comprehensive vision of the range of genres he worked in: fashion, still life, portraits, nudes, beauty, cigarettes and debris. With his fine arts background, Irving Penn developed a body of visual work that is defined by its elegant simplicity, a taste for minimalism and an astonishing rigour, evident from the studio to the darkroom, where he perfected his unique photographic prints.

Claude Monet, le plus célèbre des peintres impressionnistes, fut aussi le plus secret de leurs collectionneurs. Les chefs-d’œuvre qu’il a réunis tout au long de sa vie constituent pourtant un ensemble aussi rare qu’exceptionnel. Pour la première fois, le musée Marmottan Monet lève le voile sur cette passion privée et organise, du 14 septembre 2017 au 14 janvier 2018, une exposition inédite intitulée Monet collectionneur. Signés Delacroix, Corot, Boudin, Jongkind, Manet, Renoir, Caillebotte, Cézanne, Morisot, Pissarro, Rodin ou encore Signac, peintures, dessins, sculptures révèlent une part cachée de la vie de l’artiste. Légataire universel du peintre de Giverny et dépositaire du premier fonds mondial de son œuvre, le musée Marmottan Monet reconstitue cette collection grâce au soutien des plus grands musées et prestigieuses collections particulières. Il offre l’occasion unique de découvrir ce qui fut le panthéon sentimental et artistique du chef de file des impressionnistes. Une exposition évènement !
Claude Monet, the most celebrated of the Impressionists, was also the most private of collectors. Aside from gis well-known penchant for Japaneses prints, most have no awareness that he spent his whole life collecting myriad other master works. These unknown pieces, therefore, constitute the sentimental and artistic pantheon of the Master of Giverny.
For the first time ever, the Marmottan Museum will lift the veil on this private passion, with this unprecedent exhibition.

Le 3 octobre 2017, plus de quinze années après la fermeture de la maison de haute couture, s’ouvre le Musée Yves Saint Laurent Paris. Il occupe l’hôtel particulier historique du 5 avenue Marceau où naquirent durant près de 30 ans, de 1974 à 2002, les créations d’Yves Saint Laurent. Sur plus de 450 m2, une présentation sans cesse renouvelée, alternant parcours rétrospectif et expositions temporaires thématiques, rend compte de la richesse du patrimoine unique conservé par la Fondation Pierre Bergé - Yves Saint Laurent.
Le Musée Yves Saint Laurent Paris rend compte aussi bien du génie créatif du couturier que du processus de création des collections de haute couture. Mais plus qu’un simple musée monographique, il se veut également le témoin de l’Histoire du XXème siècle et d'une haute couture qui accompagnait un certain art de vivre aujourd’hui disparu.
Over fifteen years after the haute couture house closed, the Musée Yves Saint Laurent Paris will open on October 3, 2017. It will be located in the legendary hôtel particulier at 5 avenue Marceau where Yves Saint Laurent spent nearly thirty years designing his collections from 1974 to 2002. The same building serves as the headquarters of the Fondation Pierre Bergé – Yves Saint Laurent. Across 450 m2, an ever-changing rotation of retrospective displays and temporary thematic exhibitions will present the Fondation’s rich and unique collection.
The Musée Yves Saint Laurent Paris will focus on both the couturier’s creative genius and the process of designing a haute couture collection. Beyond its monographic ambitions, the museum seeks to address the history of the twentieth century and the haute couture traditions that accompanied a way of life that no longer exists.

La maison rouge poursuit son cycle d’expositions consacré aux collections privées. Après Artur Walther en 2015 et Bruno Decharme en 2014, c’est au tour de Marin Karmitz de dévoiler, pour la première fois, un ensemble important de sa collection, soit près de 400 oeuvres qui interrogent notre manière d’être au monde.
L’exposition est un scénario qui entremêle plusieurs histoires. Comme toute collection, celle-ci forme un autoportrait en creux du collectionneur, chaque œuvre nous en dit un peu plus sur ses centres d’intérêts, convergents ou divergents en apparence.
Au fil du parcours, la pratique du collectionneur se révèle, le choix des artistes qui l’ont ému, la constitution patiente d’ensembles cohérents d’un même artiste qu’il soit photographe ou plasticien, le dialogue continu instauré avec certains d’entre eux. DOSSIER DE PRESSE
La maison rouge continues its cycle of exhibitions showing private collections. After Artur Walther in 2015 and Bruno Decharme in 2014, Marin Karmitz unveils a significant part of his collection, with close to 400 works that question how we are in the world.
The exhibition is a screenplay with multiple storylines. As is the nature of a collection, it alludes to the collector's personality, as each work offers insight into his centres of interest, however converging or diverging they may seem.
The collector's praxis is progressively revealed: the artists that have moved him, the patient compilation of coherent groups of works by a same artist, whether in photography or the plastic arts, and the ongoing dialogue with certain of them. PRESS KIT

Art Ludique-Le Musée, en collaboration avec DC Entertainment et avec la participation de Warner Bros. Consumer Products présente « L’Art de DC – L’Aube des Super-Héros », une exposition unique au monde qui rend hommage à l’histoire de DC et à ses iconiques Super-Héros et Super-Vilains tels que Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman et le Joker qui sont à l’origine d’une véritable mythologie contemporaine.
On peut y découvrir les dessins originaux de création des super-héros et super-vilains de l’écurie DC ainsi que des scènes et lieux iconiques imaginés par des artistes de grand renom parmi lesquels Bob Kane, Neal Adams, Frank Miller, Jim Lee, Alex Ross et de nombreux autres.
On y admire également les costumes authentiques créés pour les grands films DC tels que le costume mythique porté par Christopher Reeve dans Superman ou le fameux costume porté par Lynda Carter dans Wonder Woman dans les années 1970. DOSSIER DE PRESSE
Art Ludique-Le Musée has teamed up with DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Consumer Products to debut ‘The Art of DC – Dawn of the Super Heroes,’ a one-of-a-kind exhibition that celebrates DC’s rich history, unique mythology and iconic Super Heroes and Super-Villains such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and The Joker. An original creation by Art Ludique-Le Musée, ‘The Art of DC – Dawn of the Super Heroes’ will feature nearly 250 original drawings, more than 300 preparatory sketches for the cinema and a curated selection of authentic costumes and props used in the films.
This exhibit showcases original drawings of DC’s stable of famous Super Heroes and Super-Villains, as well as iconic scenes and landmarks, from world renowned artists including Jim Lee, Bob Kane, Neal Adams, Frank Miller, Alex Ross and many more.
Also on display is the original costumes from blockbuster DC films including the famous cape worn by Christopher Reeve in the Superman movies and Lynda Carter’s iconic Wonder Woman costume from the 1970s. Costumes and props from more recent films directed by Zack Snyder, Tim Burton, Joel Schumacher and Christopher Nolan are also showcased alongside the Wonder Woman's outfit coming from the last movie.
